I am presently stumbling across specific things I need for continued spiritual growth.
There is no greater goal in life but to “glorify God and enjoy Him forever.” As a new creation in Christ I continue to struggle with sin. This means 1) I actually have that goal–those who put any less than all their hope in Christ don’t even seek God–and 2) I miss the mark all the time (and hate that I do).
No doubt the Father’s eternal covenant, the Son’s accomplishment of all the Father’s will in His life and death, and the Spirit’s application of the Son’s work to those the Father decreed to save, is the ultimate foundation of anything concerning the things of God worth blogging. But we don’t have any knowledge even of these things apart from the Word of God, the Bible.
Essentially what I’m stumbling across is “knowing the Bible better.” But there’s a worthwhile distinction between knowing what the Bible says and understanding what the Bible intends to communicate. For now I am content to dive into books on Biblical and Systematic Theology by men of faith who lived 100 years ago; in the future this may mean geographical changes and/or seminary study.
But more specifically I want to glorify God by learning to teach, challenge, exhort, rebuke, and otherwise edify others in Christ’s church. Jesus is my hero and I love him, so to serve Him I must serve those He came to serve. May God bless however much or little comes from this effort, and may you as a reader hold me to my own words as well as God’s standard.
